A Quality Management professional with more than 30 years' experience in both manufacturing and service based organisations. My manufacturing experience is predominantly in the packaging sector, especially for food end uses; and covers both plastic and paper packaging formats.
Successfully introduced ISO 9001 in various businesses, and have a strong record in maintaining Quality Management Systems to a high standard in multiple organisations. I am an IRCA Lead Auditor with extensive experience in Internal, Supplier and Third-Party certification audits.
Significant experience in gaining certification to Global Food Safety Initiatives (GFSI) - in particular the British Retail Consortium standard for Packaging (BRCGS for Packaging), where I have maintained top rating for nine consecutive years in two separate businesses.
A Leader in Continuous Improvement with a track record in assisting businesses in major business turnarounds using Lean and Continuous Improvement techniques. Lean six sigma is a methodology that uses a range of tools to reduce waste to improve efficiency, combined with a focus on reducing defects and process variation to ensure consistency.
The benefits can include improved efficiency, less waste, a reduction in customer complaints, fewer rejections, higher employee engagement through participation in the Lean Six Sigma process and ultimately an increase in the profitability of your business.
This will depend on how advanced your current quality procedures and processes are, and the complexity of your business.
Usually the process will start with a 'gap analysis' to determine what needs to be done; this is followed by establishing processes to close the gaps and documenting the procedures to ensure that these are effective.
The new system and processes need to be run for a period of time to allow for some records / evidence to be established; and then a test audit conducted to confirm readiness before applying for the certification audits.
If it is your businesses first time being audited to ISO 9001 then the audit will be done in two stages; first will be the primary or document audit to ensure that all elements of the standard have been covered in the documented quality management system (QMS). The second (and final) audit will then check the evidence available to confirm that the quality management system has been implemented correctly and that it is functioning properly.
The overall process typically takes between 3 and 12 months.
No, we can conduct internal audits to assist you in meeting the requirements for your quality management system (QMS) certification; but we can also conduct Supplier audits to ensure that your supplier approval processes are robust and functioning correctly.
In addition, we can conduct full system audits to prepare your business for any upcoming accreditation audits.
LQI specialises in both the BRCGS and FSSC 22000 GFSI standards for packaging materials; however, we can also assist with the equivalent standards for food production or the warehouse and distribution versions of the standards.
We also have expertise in a range of standards including, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) and SMETA (Sedex) audits.
